Aces Go Places 2 最佳拍檔2:大顯神通 (1983): The Sequel That Brought a Mechanical Robot, a Cross-Dressing King Kong, and More Hong Kong Box Office Gold
First, let's enjoy this classic movie clip.
The Sequel That Kept the Franchise Flying
After the massive success of the first film, a sequel was inevitable. 最佳拍檔2:大顯神通 arrived in 1983, bringing back Samuel Hui, Karl Maka, and Sylvia Chang. This time, the director was Tsui Hark — a young filmmaker who would go on to become one of Hong Kong's most celebrated directors.
The film follows the same formula: King Kong and Baldy team up to stop a new criminal threat. This time, the villain has a mechanical robot that can destroy anything in its path.
The film also introduces a new character: a female agent who helps the duo. And there's a scene where King Kong disguises himself as a woman to infiltrate a party — a classic Hong Kong comedy trope.
